What to Check in an Annual Report
Published Last updated By FinDocAnalyzer
Check the reporting period, revenue, profit, cash flow, debt, segment changes, accounting notes, risks, and whether the numbers are consistent across statements.
Confirm that you have the correct company and period before reading the figures. Look for changes in revenue, margins, profit, operating cash flow, debt, receivables, inventory, and equity. Check segment performance and material disclosures. Large changes should be traced to the relevant note or management explanation rather than interpreted in isolation.
Check the reporting context
Identify the company, period, standalone or consolidated basis, currency and units before comparing figures. A six-month cumulative figure is not the same as a single quarter. Trace material values to the original statement and its notes.
Use the original filing as the source of truth. FinDocAnalyzer can help organize figures, summaries, and comparisons, but its output is educational and should be checked against the source document.
