How it works
Financial report analysis methodology
Last updated By FinDocAnalyzer
FinDocAnalyzer is designed to make financial documents easier to inspect while keeping the original filing at the center of the workflow.
1. Document processing
The uploaded PDF is validated and its text is extracted. If the document does not contain a usable text layer, it may require OCR before metrics can be reviewed. The original document remains the source material for the analysis.
2. Metric extraction
The system looks for financial figures such as revenue, profit, cash flow, equity, and other report-supported metrics. Values are normalized for comparison while preserving their raw presentation and source location where available.
3. Summary generation
The summary explains what the document reports in plain language. It is not a forecast, valuation, rating, or recommendation. Generated statements should be checked against the cited source pages.
4. Comparisons
Comparisons use the reporting period and metric definitions available in the selected documents. QoQ and YoY results can be affected by seasonality, restatements, currency, accounting policy, and incomplete disclosures.
5. Accuracy and review
We track extraction quality using a versioned, hand-verified corpus when measurements are available. Unsupported or disputed figures should not be treated as confirmed facts. Human corrections are retained as part of the report history.
The opt-in quarterly facts pipeline binds supported numbers to statement rows and period columns, keeps standalone and consolidated results separate, and checks units. OCR may recover damaged text, but uncertain values are omitted. An independent second model is an additional audit, not proof that the entire document has been reviewed.
